Please pay attention! The bus to “Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture” is about to leave!

November and December are the months of “Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture. Study Tour. 2024”, all the departure dates are marked. Students and teachers gathered at school early in the morning and took the tour bus to Guangzhou. Because this is a good learning opportunity to get out of the classroom, break away from graphic information and absorb the novel Chinese medicine culture, the students are extremely excited.
As you step into the “Guangdong Chinese Medicine Museum”, the three-story height 600 bottles of magnificent original-color macerated specimens of medicinal plants attracted your attention. “Is it real?” Everyone looked at the precious rhinoceros’s specimens in the lobby and exclaimed in admiration. There are many exhibits in the museum far beyond the imagination of the students. Ganoderma lucidum and cinnamon can be so large. Scented whales are so precious!
The “Guangdong Herbal Tea Museum” is an exhibition hall that blends tradition and technology. Here, not only can learn about the herbal tea allusions. The most profound thing is that you can use the medicine mortar and grinder to pound medicine and make your own sachets with medicinal flavor.
During the move, we played mini-games about Chinese medicine and arrived at the restaurant noisily. After dinner, we had a sharing session with the practitioner. They talked about how the climate characteristics of Hong Kong affect daily diet and how is the Chinese medicine package included “Jun, Chen, Zuo, Shi” in it. We spent the happy learning time with mini games.
You have to walk through it to understand how big the “South China Botanical Garden” is. There are various Chinese herbal plants along the way within reach. The tour guide showed everyone a leaf that looks ordinary but has a familiar aroma. That’s lemon eucalyptus, which can be used to repel mosquitoes. The students happily picked it up as a souvenir. We came to the highlights of the garden - super large “greenhouse”. A greenhouse contains various landscapes such as tropical rainforest plants, desert plants, alpine and polar plants etc. There are rare growth landscapes such as “A single tree forest”, “Strangler fig” or “Columnar tree”, etc., allowing students to understand the various survival and evolution of plants.
There is also the “Guangzhou Shennong Cao Tang Zhongyiyao Museum”, where the history of traditional Chinese medicine is displayed in relief art. The museum's garden layout blends various histories and cultures. The medicinal botanical garden has an area of unusual toxic traditional Chinese medicine plants. Everyone consciously stood at a distance to see “Heartbroken Grass” and “Antiaris toxicaria”. The “Wanglaoji Liangcha Museum” introduces the history of herbal tea through multiple senses. We can see the care of herbal tea culture for the people through histories.
Although a little tired after two days and a night but full of happy memories, everyone went home with intangible and tangible rewards. Because everyone showed enthusiasm and enjoyment during the trip, I am really looking forward to seeing the students’ trip reports and their look back perspective on this “Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Study Tour”.
